The patient journey

Your GP will have referred you through the NHS to a Rheumatology service at one of Northern Ireland’s hospitals.

Because of the long NHS waiting lists to be seen, your referral has been passed to Rheumatology Consulting NI  (RCNI). We will ensure that you are seen and assessed by a local consultant Rheumatologist, more quickly than would be possible at an NHS hospital. You will be seen at our private medical clinic at 25 Derryvolgie Avenue Belfast. All consultation, investigation and treatment will be provided without cost to you.

RCNI will contact you by letter to offer you an appointment with one of our Consultants. This letter will include our contact details so that you can change your appointment time if it does not suit you. If we can offer you an appointment at short notice we will try to contact you by telephone.

When you attend for your appointment please bring a list of all your medication with you. If you require investigations some tests such as ultrasound scans and blood tests can be carried out at the time of your first appointment. If you require other tests such as X Rays or MRI scans we will arrange these for you at another local facility and arrange a further appointment to discuss results. Should you require a joint or soft tissue injection we will arrange to carry this out for you at 25 Derryvolgie Avenue, Belfast.
